A lot of the ministry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church is performed through various "Ministry Teams" that focus on areas that makes best use of the talents God has provided.

OUTREACH MINISTRY TEAM:

THE OUTREACH MINISTRY TEAM would like our congregation to reach into our hearts for our Lenten Project. We would like you to pray, on a daily basis, for those overseas on St. Paul's military list, for the people who have died this week in all war torn areas of the world and for those on our Diocesan Cycle of Prayers.

If you wish to pray for the Anglican Cycle of Prayers, you can use the website for our Diocese: www.dioswva.org click "Publications"; click "Prayer Calendar" click "online version of the Anglican Cycle of Prayer. If you wish to pray for the American Military who have died this past week, you will find their names listed on line: www.Icasualties.org/oif; at the top of the page, click "U S Casualties; click "Printable List of US Deaths; scroll to the bottom of the list for the latest names.

==============================================

For over Five Years, St. Paul's Church supports an Out-Reach ministry at the Virginia Veterans Care Center. The VVCC is a State owned institution dedicated to the care of military veterans. The staff ministers to veterans (men and women) in need of assisted living, restorative care, skilled care, and Alzheimer's patients.

The form of the ministry is a celebration of the Holy Eucharist every Wednesday at 7:30 PM. St. Paul's furnishes the paper, copier service, the bread, the wine and table linens. Twenty three volunteers (thirteen members of St. Paul's) make this ministry work.

For more information come visit us on a Wednesday evening.

LAY READERS (also called Lectors),  and CHALICE BEARERS

An important part of worship is the dedication of those who read passages from the Bible and assist our priest with the communion. The Schedule is are carefully rotated so that the joy of helping in our service does not become a burden.

THE PARISH LIFE AND  FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY TEAM mission statement is "to provide a variety of opportunities for parishioners to know one another, share activities, and have fun while building the family of St. Paul's."

 New members are always welcome.

THE PASTORAL CARE COMMITTEE IS HERE FOR YOU!

The Pastoral Care Committee wishes to know about the needs of St. Paul's parishioners. Are you or a member of your family ill or hospitalized? Have you just had a new baby? Are you a new member desiring a visit from a parishioner? Do you need help with a hot meal or transportation to a doctor's appointment? Do you wish prayers for yourself or loved ones? Do you desire Eucharist in the home? Please let us know as we have parishioners ready to help their fellow members. Contact either Judy Paxton, Polly Jones or the church office 389-9307.

A LAY-MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a few good persons who would enjoy attending a mid-week celebration of the Holy Eucharist that offers opportunity to exercise a meaningful ministry. Every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on the top floor dining room of the Virginia Veterans Care Center (next to the VA Medical Center), we begin the celebration. Volunteers help in numerous ways. Some of our volunteers, who have been unbelievably faithful, have had to stop or diminish their participation. We need replacements. It's the volunteers who make this ministry work. This ministry is now well into its fifth year.

WHAT MIGHT VOLUNTEERS DO?

  • Before the celebration:
There is the Holy Table to be put in place and prepared.
There are Service Leaflets and Song Sheets to distribute.
Some residents will need help moving about.
The piano, on some Wednesdays, must be moved.
    The podium/amplifier must be connected.
There are about 30 residents with whom to become acquainted.
  • During the celebration:
Participate lustily in our homespun liturgy and our singing.
Be on the alert for a resident who might seem to need help.
Contribute to the Prayers as the Spirit moves you.
  • After the celebration:
Help dismantle the setting and restore the room to its original arrangement.
    Help move residents as needed.
Learn as many names of residents as you can.

Fr. Harmon

We want to list other teams here together with information about each of them.  If you are with a team and want to post something, email the 'Webangel' "at" Stpauls-salem.org
